THE LIFEGUARD COMMUNITY
The Lifeguard Community, Inc (TLC) provides holistic adult reentry coaching and mentorship for at-risk youth to empower them with a defined purpose. We have the mission of providing restorative justice to our neighborhoods and reducing crime city-wide.
OUR VISION

We have merged transitional and re-entry coaching with holistic development, to help reshape individuals into a legacy and leadership driven mindset. We provide support for those exiting or have been involved in the criminal justice system, mandated to transitional living spaces, or in recovery. It is our passion to inspire those we mentor and coach to become an active part of our organization, to give back to their communities by becoming coaches and mentors themselves. Our goal is to be the largest organization in the nation that specializes in community reintegration and re-entry coaching.
ABOUT US
The Lifeguard Community was founded in Chicago during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Inspired by the founder and with a shared desire, a team of individuals focused their efforts on reducing crime through community reintegration, after the events of the pandemic. Our team specializes in community reentry, holistic coaching, and leadership development.
We are a proud community partner with DePaul University, providing students with experience inside and out of the classroom, including internships and part-time opportunities.
ABOUT THE FOUNDER My name is Dr. John Ptasinski, the founder and President of The Lifeguard Community, Inc. I specialize in community re-entry and reintegration coaching. The organization was founded based on my personal, professional, and academic experience while reentering society after being incarcerated due to gang activity and drug involvement. It was through a combined experience of rehabilitation, transitional living, and my transformational experience with God that I was able to create a new legacy.
Today, as a husband, pastor, author, and Doctor of Education, it is my vision to create the largest community reintegration program in the nation. The term “Lifeguard” was inspired by my personal relationship with my savior – God. He handed me a life preserver twenty years ago, and because of that, I can swim on my own. Now, it is my turn to pass on that very same life preserver. My life is dedicated to helping others re-enter society and to create a legacy of their own.
